This requires you to have a webcam and microphone which can be purchased very cheaply from most online retailers. In most cases new laptops have a webcam and microphone built in. Alternatively you can use your tablet or smartphone. All appointments are completed securely on Microsoft Teams.
Your therapist will be using a top of the range 1080p Full High Definition webcam with stereo sound microphones. They will also be able to work through your problem on a digital 'whiteboard' and go through your issues e.g. 'vicious cycles' on screen with you.
Advantages:
You may find the commitments of work or family leaves you with little spare time
Face to face sessions may be intimidating for you
You may live in a remote area where there are no therapists
Allows you to build up confidence and potentially move to face to face sessions
Travel may not be easy due to perhaps a physical or mental disability
You may be in an already stressed and anxious state and cannot face leaving the security of your home
You do not wish other members of your family to know you are seeking help
You can have your session wherever you can access the internet
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Counselling sessions are between 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on what is covered in the session. We also offer double sessions (1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours) if appropriate e.g. exposure work for specific phobias.
You can be seen as frequently as is necessary, this will be decided collaboratively between you and your therapist. You can also switch to any other form of session mid-treatment if required e.g. continue treatment with face to face sessions if you have built your confidence through HD internet conferencing sessions.
